In a domainbased structure, where the IT function is structured around supporting business functions, this role leads the Manufacturing and Supply Chain (MSC) domain; ensuring the IT can sufficiently support and drive business forward by providing IT solutions to the Manufacturing department. MSC domain will act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for the MFG domain, lead and coordinate all support from MSC domain itself and all other relevant IT functions (including Enterprise Application & Integration, Enterprise Infrastructure Services and Information Security).
The main ways in which this will be achieved are through leadership of the following capabilities:
- Vehicle Plant IT
- Engine Plant IT
- AME (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering) IT
- Supply Chain IT
- IT strategy and planning for the entire MFG function
The major responsibilities of this role are:
- Lead the development of Manufacturing IT Strategy and roadmap
Directly work with senior Manufacturing business stakeholders (EVP/VP and functional directors) to define the IT systems strategy that supports the Manufacturing Operating Model and Business Plan
Lead sub-domain IT senior managers to cascade the IT strategy into budget plans and IT landscape roadmaps
Act as the main IT contact for Industry 4 / China Manufacturing 2025, in collaboration with Manufacturing team and Business Office team, as supported by IT Innovations Senior manager and domain SMEs; responsible for developing the IT technology roadmap in support of this initiative.
Directly work with CJLR Business Office on strategic PR initiatives
- Business Partnering and Demand Operation
Manage the MSC IT team to understand business requirements (either part of the agreed roadmap / business plan or un-planned, ad-hoc basis) and initiate IT projects in support of these requirements
Provide oversight to sub-domain senior managers and their BPs (IT business partners)
Work with IT Business Office as escalating points in the routine operation of commercial process and relevant gateway reviews
- Product and Project delivery
Define the strategy for core MSC domain products (e.g. MES as a product)
Oversee and approve the roadmap of product development and evolution, and seek functional business owner’s alignment
Provide governance on project closure to ensure we deliver best quality output for business and the committed business value (as per business case)
Partner with strategic product suppliers and provide technology guidance to the team
Act as the escalation points and steering committee member for IT delivery projects in the MSC domain and projects managed in other IT domains with an MSC impact
- IT application maintenance
Lead the MSC sub-domains managers to ensure IT operational targets for MSC IT systems are met (e.g. down time target, system availabilities, etc.)
Ensure smooth transition of IT products and projects into BaU without business interuption
Provide oversight to changes and improvements to MSC IT systems
Define collaboration models with business teams and other IT domain teams
- MSC IT innovations
Work together with IT innovations (tools and governance) to explore innovation initiatives within the MFG area and be the main IT contact, match pairing against MFG innovations champion
Partner with JLR MSC IT team (and their business customer, mainly in the AME team)
- IT management
As a member of the IT leadership team, participate in formulating the IT operation and governance model
Manage the development of IT team through recruiting, coaching and developing IT employees in the immediate team, as well as cross functionally
